Artist Development Opportunity
Call out for emerging music creators/composers:
Sage Gateshead is seeking four music creators/composers to work with its acclaimed Young Musicians Programme ensembles to devise new work in the 2017/18 academic year alongside the ensemble Musical Directors:
To be considered for this opportunity, you must be emerging into a career in music creation or composition and not in full time education, and have a desire and passion to create music with young people. You need to be able to travel to Sage Gateshead and the North East and liaise with the Music Director and Sage Gateshead.
This scheme is in its second year. In 2016/17 the music creators were Matt Anderson and Zoe Gilby with Jambone (youth jazz orchestra), Anna Appleby with Quay Voices (youth choir), Hannah James with Folkestra (youth folk ensemble) and Freddy Viner with Young Sinfonia (Sage Gateshead’s youth chamber orchestra). Each music creator was supported to work closely with the ensemble’s young people and music director to develop their skills and create new material or special arrangements for the group and performances of the work were showcased at Hexham Gathering youth folk festival, National Centre for Early Music and Gateshead International Jazz Festival at Sage Gateshead.
To apply to be considered for 2017/18, please submit a short biog, an audio sample of your music and state clearly which youth ensemble you are interested in working with to email@example.com or for more information in advance of making an application, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Closing Date 31 July, 2017.
Residencies will begin from September 2017 and run within the 2017/18 academic year by arrangement.
This scheme is supported by PRS Foundation for Music Talent Development programme.
