River Tyne Academy
At the River Tyne Academy music project, there are a lot of opportunities for young people to develop music, production, DJ skills and lots more!
Young people have a chance to learn how to use music production software e.g. Sony Acid Pro, to create original music using samples and take their finished track home with them by the end of the session, on a CD.
The sessions are run by a team of project musicians with skills ranging from DJing to song writing and from music production to video editing.
In past projects, groups of young people have worked towards a specific performance, such as the Mexican Day of the Dead, or specific themes (eg. Christmas or summer) whilst also working alongside the school curriculum.
There is also a chance to develop different instrumental skills within the project including drumming, percussion and keyboard skills as well as developing skills such as singing, art and dance.
