For their BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists’ Showcase, Spanish mezzo-soprano Clara Mouriz and pianist Joseph Middleton look to women of distinguished courage, ability and noble qualities for inspiration.

Spanish music bookends this recital, beginning with an early setting of Acis and Galatea and ending with Granados’ impassioned ‘The Maiden and the Nightingale’, inspired by the paintings of Goya. Haydn’s cantata throws the abandoned princess Arianna into vivid life, alongside two of Schubert’s forays into opera, and Ravel’s setting of exotic tales from ’1001 Nights’ in his Shéhérazade.

Ticket Offer: £4.50 tickets for YMP students / Weekend School students and accompanying adults. Call Ticket Office to book.
