Celtic Fiddle Festival make a welcome return to Fiddles on Fire and features “three of the finest folk violinists anywhere” ( Washington Post), Celtic Fiddle Festival celebrates the violin in all its globe-trotting variations. Fiddlers Kevin Burke (Ireland), Christian Lemaître (Brittany, France) and André Brunet (Quebec, Canada) showcase a fascinating juxtaposition of international and individual styles. Accompanying them is Nicolas Quemener , (Brittany, France) a master open-tuning guitarist.
The Bottle Bank Band brings together the fiddling talents of Sophy Ball, Chloe Jones , David Jones and Stewart Hardy and takes its name from the one-time residence of Tyneside’s most famous fiddling son, James Hill, just around the corner from Sage Gateshead.
The glorious sound of these four fiddles, rich in harmony and captivating arrangements, is underpinned by an instinctive understanding of traditional playing, which gives voice and space to the musicality and talent of the individual players.
