Our next Future Traditions concert at Sage,Gateshead features songs and music from North, East, West and South, which is why we are calling it ‘Bringing The News’.
And in fact there will be some wonderful new compositions on show that night, including Bertie Armstrong’s excellent song about the Dakota Pipeline, and some string trio sets by Anna Hughes, which she composed after visiting South Africa.
Add to this, some music from an exciting big band featuring flute, 3 fiddles, accordion, banjo/guitar and cello, and stunning songs from Katie McCleod with her cello (and much , much more) and we promise you a rich evening of performances from our extraordinarily talented students on the Folk & Traditional Music course at Newcastle University.
Some of the biggest names in music visit the banks of the Tyne this May and June while we also have innovative talks and performances as part of Thinking Digital Arts 2017 & Hexham Gathering returns.
Sage Gateshead showcases a strong line-up of folk, roots and blues artists from both sides of the Atlantic.
