Homegrown VI

Sage Two

A night of musical ‘revelations’ from the cream of Sage Gateshead’s very own staff bands and friends. Homegrown returns to show the talents of various staff here at Sage Gateshead.

Simon Taylor and Makis Lepouris bring sun-drenched, Mediterranean Sounds; James Allan & Co sing songs to break your heart and lift your soul; Maddie Maughan plays contemporary acoustic covers; Big Red and the Grinners play a fevered mix of folk, country and bluegrass in their own style; Newman/Minnis/McEwan interpret the controversial work of William Burroughs; and Jonston and Urban Geisha expertly deploy trip hop with experimental guitars and, scratchy samples and laconic vocals. A night ranging from the sublime to the slamming.

Your hosts for the evening are the inimitable Mr. G and, joining him on stage for the first time, Miss Sharleen French.

This is an annual institution which always throws up some surprises! Previous performances have included established local acts such as Lesley Roley, Sharks Took the Rest and Sea of Glass, as well as some lesser known acts such as EGO – The Electric Guitar Orchestra, made up of members of our very own Customer Services Team.
