John Smith is an Essex born musician who was raised on he Devon coast who tours internationally and has amassed over 80 million streams on Spotify to date. Smith is known for his authentic songwriting, honey-on-gravel voice, and pioneering guitar playing.
The artist has some mighty collaborations under his belt, having played guitar as a session musician for the likes of Joan Baez, David Gray, Joe Henry, Lianne La Havas, and Tom Jones. Plus The Fray Variations (2022 EP) features guests like Lisa Hannigan, Sarah Jarosz, Bill Frisell, Jessica Stavely-Taylor (The Staves), and The Milk Carton Kids.
His releases The Fray (2021 album) follows Live in Chester a live album released in April 2020 as an expression of appreciation for the magic of live shows and Hummingbird (2018) – a nod to folk traditions and some of Smith’s early influences from across the ages.
