Get into the last night party spirit with two contrasting bands from the North East both guaranteed to raise your spirits!

The Waal with special guest Kyran Matthews

Bringing influences from Celtic and Scandinavian folk, polyrhythms from Eastern Europe & funk and jazz fusion, the latest quartet from North-East based composers Ian Stephenson and Andy May treads a new path between jazz and folk, showcasing exclusively new compositions. The band will also feature special guest Kyran Matthews, a Manchester-based rising talent, the only saxophonist ever to win the Royal Northern College of Music Gold Medal Soloist Award.

Hannabiell and Midnight Blue

This high energy seven piece band led by the dynamic American bass trombonist/percussionist.composer/educator Hannabiell Sanders fuses together Afro-Caribbean & Latin percussion, jazz, afro-beat, funk and reggae to create their own unique sound. The organic blend of powerful and upbeat drums, brass, vocal chants, and mbira compositions not only produces an invigorating party atmosphere, it also summons audience participation – we defy you not to be up and dancing!
