In a unique EXTRA event, four of the stars of SummerTyne Americana Festival 2017 come together to perform their songs and talk about their song-writing craft and inspirations. Host Jim Lauderdale will be joined by Amythyst Kiah, Chuck Prophet, and Ashley Campbell for this intimate and once-in-a-lifetime chance to see how the music is made.

Jim Lauderdale has helped pave the way for the current Americana movement and has written songs and worked with some of the finest artists in traditional and modern music including George Strait, Elvis Costello, Buddy Miller, Lucinda Williams, John Oates, Solomon Burke, Lee Ann Womack, Mary Chapin Carpenter, the Dixie Chicks, Old Crow Medicine Show and many more.

Amythyst Kiah’s influences span decades and diverse styles: combining rhythm and blues and old-time covers alongside startling originals with an angular contemporary twist, she bestrides both spheres with complete authenticity and authority.

Former member of Green on Red, Californian singer/songwriter, guitarist and producer Chuck Prophet is noted for his rhythmic yet lyrical style. Prophet has over 10 solo albums under his belt and many more with Green on Red who first played in the UK back in the mid 1980s.

Songwriter, singer, banjo player, Ashley Campbell juggles all three roles, armed with the ability not only to dream up a modern country song, but to deliver it too. The youngest daughter of country star Glen Campbell, her music is a mix of her wide-ranging influences, combining the old-school country sound of the 60s and 70s with contemporary Americana, rootsy folk and country-pop.
