Lilliput return to Sage Gateshead this Christmas for both their annual festive show and to launch their debut album Midnight Daydream.
To say that the bands debut has been long awaited would be a huge understatement. Formed back in 2011 on the back of Jamie Gillings acoustic meanderings, the band have spent the past five years releasing, performing and developing their sound.
Their debut EP Who Knows Where The Time Goes? was released via Pop Sex LTD back in 2013 and was met with high praise both nationally and locally. Shortly after this, the five piece became six with the addition of Jordan Miller (keyboards & vocals) who appeared on the EP.
Fast forward three years and their debut, Midnight Daydream, is finally here. The band travelled to Liverpool to team back up with colleague and friend Robert Whiteley (Whitewood Studios) this time as engineer and co-producer of the album. This resulted (as you might expect after five years) in an album encompassing a variety of sub-genres and styles. An amalgamation of west coast rock and british pop, it nods to influences from CSNY to the The Zombies, The Band to White Denim, Super Furry Animals to The Beach Boys.
Jordan Miller (Keyboards) departed on good terms shortly after the albums completion and the band welcomed the arrival of Carmen Green (Polarsets / former The Railway Club) in to the fold. A multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter in her own right, Lilliput now stand with more potential than ever.
This headline Sage Two show is surely set to launch the band into their next and most exciting chapter to date.
