Mercury Rev with Royal Northern Sinfonia plus support from Lanterns on the Lake lead vocalist Hazel Wilde

Sage One

Nearly 30 years after their formation, this July sees Mercury Rev embark on an exclusive three-date UK tour accompanied by Sage Gateshead’s very own Royal Northern Sinfonia and ex-Cocteau Twins member Simon Raymonde.

Expect rare and first time song performances along with selections from the legendary albums ‘Deserter’s Songs’ and ‘All Is Dream’ all delivered with the Rev’s trademark widescreen arrangements and their iconic flair for the modern fairytale.

The tour forms part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of British independent record label Bella Union, who have released music by Beach House, Explosions in the Sky, The Flaming Lips, The Walkmen and many more.

One of the UK’s most forward-thinking and versatile orchestras, Royal Northern Sinfonia have collaborated with artists as diverse as Pet Shop Boys, Joanna Newsom, John Grant and Spiritualized in recent years.

A rare opportunity to see this unique collaboration live in the North East – don’t miss out!

Plus Support Hazel Wilde

Hazel Wilde is a founding member of the acclaimed indie rock band Lanterns On The Lake and will give her debut solo performance in support of label mates Mercury Rev. Stripping back the spectral rock sound of her main project to reveal its vulnerable and compelling songwriting core, Wilde will be debuting new spellbinding material that is as bleak as it is beautiful.
