Interested in taking up jazz? Already playing and need a boost? Experienced musicians will teach you to improvise in an informal environment. You’ll learn a bit of theory but mostly it will be practical – lots of listening and playing.
Suitable for all instruments. You don’t have to read music but you should have a basic understanding of scales and chords.

Saturday 7 April: Part of Gateshead International Jazz Festival
Want to play jazz but never dared? Already playing jazz but need a boost? Come and explore the world of jazz improvisation guided by experienced jazz musicians including leading composer, teacher and bandleader Issie Barratt whose ensemble INTERCHANGE are performing at the festival. You don’t have to read music but you should be able to play all the notes of your instrument with ease. Aged 16+. Suitable for all instruments. £20 (£18 for Jazz Coop members)
