Julian Rachlin conductor/violin
Royal Northern Sinfonia
For parents wondering how to get their children started in classical music, our Classics 4 Kids concerts are a great place to start.
New for our 2016/17 season, these 45-minute long concerts feature fantastic repertoire adapted from Royal Northern Sinfonia’s main series of concerts, and introduce children to it in a fun and accessible way.
A wonderful opportunity for youngsters to hear shorter, bite-sized sections of classical music in the right environment for them – and we’re sure the grown-ups will love it too.
“Children should be involved really early on in classical music because it is a wonderful thing for them to explore and to experience, as well as a wonderful way of expressing yourself.” RNS Music Director Lars Vogt
Next in the series: Classics 4 Kids with Thomas Zehetmair
The repertoire for Classics 4 Kids with Julian will feature sections from the first and second movements of Beethoven’s Symphony No.3 ‘Eroica’ and from the first and third movements of the composer’s Violin Concerto. If you would like to listen to the pieces before the concert, we have compiled a Spotify playlist here.
Make a day of it with these pre and post show activities, taking place on the concourse at Sage Gateshead:
- Colour in a Kite from 1pm (you might find your kite useful in the concert too!)
- Instrument demonstrations from 1pm
- Face painting (after the concert)
