Ryan McGarvey is a star on the rise. In just the past few years his accolades have included being selected by Eric Clapton from over 4,000+ artists worldwide to perform at his 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago, to the Guitar Player Magazine’s Annual Readers Choice Award for Best New Talent in 2013.
2014 proved to be another epic year for McGarvey as he was voted the winner of Best Guitarist in the European Blues Awards.
Since then, with the release of his latest album The Road Chosen, Ryan has toured internationally, including major festivals throughout Europe. He has not only gained a growing national and international fan base, but admiration from his personal idols as well.
“I met Ryan in 2006 and was very impressed at the depth of his influence and his ability to put said influences together in his own way. To watch him grow as a artist and to hear his name mentioned to me as much as it has, is a testament to his hard work and skill.” Joe Bonamassa
His incendiary, yet dynamic guitar playing leaves crowds around the world marvelling, and wanting more. With strong songs, award winning vocals, fierce guitar playing, an unstoppable work ethic, and an undying love for the blues flavoured hard rock he pours from his soul, Ryan has been compared to the best in the business.
“Look for this young lion in the future because he’s looking for his own sound and what I’ve heard so far; I like it.” Chris Duarte
He’s delighted to be heading back to one of his favourite venues in Europe – Sage Gateshead. “What an incredible place – I’ll never forget the atmosphere and the warmth of the welcome I got from the audience. It was great to see so many familiar faces, and I can’t wait to say hello again”.
Ryan is also thrilled to be joined on this tour by legendary bass guitarist, Carmine Rojas, who has previously played with David Bowie, Joe Bonamassa and Rod Stewart, to name but a few, as well as internationally respected Logan Miles Nix on drums.
This September and October sees a packed programme of gigs which showcase the finest international and local artists. From Motown legends The Four Tops and The Temptations and pop icons Heaven 17 to local stars Field Music and Brazilian hip hop activist Billy Saga, we have your musical taste...
Sage Gateshead showcases a strong line-up of folk, roots and blues artists from both sides of the Atlantic.
