Featuring great bands from across Sage Gateshead’s Learning & Participation programme, including our BMus Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music programme and Young Musicians Programme, as well as other renowned ensembles from across the region. This afternoon of free music can be enjoyed by everyone.
2.30pm – 3pm
An upbeat contemporary ensemble directed by Paul Edis for young instrumentalists keen to develop and explore their skills of improvisation. Part of Sage Gateshead Young Musicians Programme.
3.30pm – 4pm
James Carmichael Ensemble
Led by students from the BMus (Hons) Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music degree programme.
4.30pm – 5pm
A new contemporary Jazz quartet performing a programme of tunes from across the modern jazz spectrum. Taking on a variety of modern numbers, some well known and quite a few not!

Not Now Charlie
An exciting new band featuring alumni of the Sage Gateshead’s BMus (Hons) Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music degree programme. Their original material draws from the jazz, pop and rock worlds but keeps groove and melody at its heart. notnowcharlie.com

Lindsay Hannon Plus
The Lindsay Hannon Plus are an excellent female-fronted ensemble rooted in the improvisational tradition of jazz. Their sound moves from raucous barrel house blues & tight swing to sensitive spacious ballads, capturing the mood of the great torch singers of the 20th century. They perform a wide variety of material, spanning from original numbers to the music of Cole Porter, Tom Waites, Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock & Gershwin, The Doors & Amy Winehouse, all interpreted & arranged to highlight both the music & the skill of the musicians.
