Saturday Afternoon Jazz

Sage Gateshead Concourse

Featuring great bands from across Sage Gateshead’s Join In programme, including our BMus Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music programme and Young Musicians Programme, as well as other ensembles from across the region. This afternoon of free music can be enjoyed by everyone.

1:30pm – 2pm
The Henchmen Jazz Sextet
The Henchmen Jazz Sextet are a saxophone and vocal lead band based in the Newcastle Upon Tyne. Playing various standards in a swing, lounge and blues fashion stereotypically associated with film representations of 50’s jazz clubs, this band blends the modern with the classics bringing an energetic and youthful edge to the great jazz tunes that have survived the generations.

Grace Ellen Trio
From the moody and evocative to the swinging and upbeat, The Grace Ellen Trio is an exciting blend, featuring the smooth, earthy tones of Grace Ellen with some of the Northeast’s finest musical talent.

Silver Jazz Choir

Djangologie
Djangologie has built an enthusiastic following through its uplifting, humorous, swinging ‘gypsy jazz’ concerts, broadcasts and festival appearances. This performance will feature Reinhardt/Grappelli favourites interspersed with some new compositions to create an exciting mix of the ‘old’ and the ‘new’.
