The Four Tops and The Temptations

Sage One

Timeless Motown greats, The Four Tops and The Temptations have just announced that they are adding an additional date to their UK tour in October 2016 and will be performing in a special show at Sage Gateshead.

The Four Tops’ groundbreaking sound with energising vocal power and melodic harmonies includes soul, R&B, disco and jazz influences and helped define the Motown sound with hits including ‘I Can’t Help Myself’ and 1966 number one ‘Reach Out’. The line-up for the tour includes original member Duke Fakir plus Ronnie McNeir, Lawrence Payton and Harold ‘Spike’ Bonhart.

The Temptations, known as The Emperors of Soul were the first Motown band to win a Grammy Award in 1969 with ‘Cloud Nine’ and they won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013, a tribute to a career that helped shape soud and R&B music.

Their classic hits include ‘My Girl’ and ‘Papa Was a Rolling Stone’. The current line up is made up of Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Joe Herndon and Bruce Williamson.
