An amazing mix of styles which gels spectacularly in an avalanche of pure music!
Swedish polskas meet Scottish reels, English folk guitar accompanies Indian classical song, Galician pipes play Balkan melodies and the Zimbabwean mbira blends with Colombian rhythms. The result is a unique and exciting blend of culture, personality and musical style. Check out their workshop too !
Made up of members of Swedish folk award winners Kolonien, BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winners Last Orders and BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award nominees Rura, alongside winner of the All India Radio Competition Carnatic Devotional singer Charu Hariharan, and rising star of the Zimbabwean folk scene Rutendo Macharidza, Världens Band showcases music from all around the world performed at its best.
All experts in their native traditional music, the musicians first joined forces in 2012 in Stockholm to share the folk music from their separate countries and to create new sounds under the guidance of Swedish folk legend Ale Möller. They have since carried out two successful tours of Sweden set to appear at major festivals over summer 2014.
