In Harmony NewcastleGateshead welcomes 2014!

Posted on 16 January 2014

2014 certainly has begun on a high note for children involved on the In Harmony project in Elswick!

Huge congratulations on superb first exam success for two In Harmony students, who now also attend Sage Gateshead’s Centre for Advanced Training every weekend.

A group of 23 children from Hawthorn Symphony Orchestra performed a variety of music this Tuesday at Newcastle Racecourse. More excitement to start the New Year off!! The children performed beautifully.

Hawthorn Symphony Orchestra was set up in September 2013, and gave its first performance at Christmas time to delighted parents, carers, teachers and Sage Gateshead staff. The orchestra is 75 strong, one of six ensembles that rehearse daily within the school.

Also players from Royal Northern Sinfonia visited Ashfield and Hawthorn in the first week of term to give short performances showcasing a string trio and trumpet and percussion group.

We’re looking forward to an exciting Spring Term filled with super music making.
