About Project Choice: Three young people have been spending each Tuesday morning at Sage Gateshead as part of Project Choice, an NHS initiated work placement scheme hosted by Sage Gateshead’s Accessible Learning Programme. Project Choice offers young people with Special Education Needs and Disability a variety of work based opportunities in a safe environment over a period of six weeks.

Week Three

Lez: Today I mopped some floors, cleaned some sinks and did all of Level 3, outside Sage One on the sitter hoover. I have learnt about how to use streamer . It was fun using the steamer and I steamed some chairs. I enjoyed all of it today”

Tracey: I refilled the bins and went to the welcome desk and rang Bliss to ask if there were any jobs and we went to upstairs to the loading bay. I got the leaflets and brought them back down and filled the stands. I went to the print room and I went to the photocopy room. In the duty corridor we read out the rules and professional behavior that you need when you are a Customer Experience Team member at Sage Gateshead. I learnt something new which was using the radios. I really enjoyed this.”

Sarah: I filled up the boxes and put more posters out. We used the trolleys to take boxes to the print room. We took the old boxes to the recycle bins and it is the coldest part of the building! Then I had a go on the radio and learnt how to talk through the mike . It was fun. I learnt that how you have to use professional behavior on the radio.”
