Quay Voices in Canada - Day Two

Posted on 19 February 2014

One of our fabulous youth choirs, Quay Voices, is in Canada ! Using COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY, they’re sending word back to us for the blog.

Day Two

Due to the time difference everyone was up bright and early for a big breakfast at The Banff Centre. Quay Voices had a sound check this morning with the experienced sound engineers from the Music and Sound Department. After setting up Rolston Hall with all the equipment to start recording, Quay Voices were seated and Matt led the choir singing an Alberta folk song. With a fantastic view up into the mountain range, Quay Voices were singing beautifully and in the Director’s words – ‘They sound like angels!’.

After a big hearty lunch the tenors and basses had a break in the afternoon and went into Banff Town Centre with John, and the Sopranos and Altos recorded their pieces back in Rolston with Michael on piano. The afternoon was a new experience for all working in recording conditions, hard work but really enjoyable and Quay Voices ladies sang strong all afternoon. We look forward to recording SATB repertoire tomorrow!
