Jazz UK, March/April 2009 issue

Let’s face it, there are festivals, and there are festivals that make you very glad indeeed that you’re lucky enough to be near them and/or make it worthwhile travellling to them from pretty much anywhere. This is one such, held in a glorious venue in a conurbations which would surely be the English captial if our maps were the other way up. With a roster that really does have something for everyone – Barker, Pine, Watkiss, Shaw, Jordan, Barnes, Warren Kellock, a contingent from ECM, Northern Sinfonia (playing Ellington/Strayhorn) and much else – there’s really no better place to be.
