Here at Sage Gateshead we love a good old sandwich (who doesn’t, right?). So we’re really excited that the chef’s in The Sir Michael Straker Cafe are celebrating ‘British Sandwich Week’ by creating some mouth-watering delights!

Take a look at the menu below and pop into Sage Gateshead between 12th – 17th May to sample one for yourself…

Tuesday 12th May

Cold sandwich: BLT (Thick, hand-cut Geordie Bakers’ bloomer bread filled with dehydrated bacon, baby gem lettuce and beef tomatoes).
Hot sandwich: Posh bacon butty (English muffin, cream cheese, chives & crispy bacon).

Wednesday 13th May

Cold sandwich: ‘Ramblin’ Boy’ – Beef, Yorkshire blue cheese and watercress (Thick, hand-cut Geordie Bakers’ bloomer bread filled with beef, Yorkshire blue cheese and watercress).
Hot sandwich: ‘Last Thing On My Mind’ – Pork & stuffing stottie with scratchings (Geordie bakers’ stottie, sliced pork, stuffing & apple sauce served with a pot of pork scratchings).

Thursday 14th May

Cold sandwich:STRAUSS Serenade for Winds’ – Ploughman’s Sandwich (Thick hand cut bloomer, ham, smoked Northumberland cheese and pickle)
Hot sandwich:SCHUBERT Overture: ‘In the British sandwich style’ – All day breakfast sandwich (Brioche bun with bacon, sausage & fried egg. Served with hash browns and pot of beans).

Friday 15th May

Cold sandwich: ‘Leave a Little Love’ for the Great British coronation chicken (thick, hand cut Geordie Baker bloomer bread filled with coronation Chicken).
Hot sandwich: ‘Oh Me Oh My’ It’s the Geordie chip buttie! (Geordie Bakers’ stottie, hand cut chips, served with Newcastle brown ale gravy).

Saturday 16th May

Cold sandwich: Smoked salmon, beetroot, caper & dill mayo (Thick, hand cut Geordie Bakers’ bloomer bread filled with smoked salmon, beetroot, caper & dill mayo).
Hot sandwich: Proper fish finger sandwich (brioche bun with homemade cod fingers, tartar sauce, hand-cut chips & coleslaw).

Sunday 17th May

Cold sandwich: Mini cucumber & cream cheese sandwiches (Served like an afternoon tea, with scone, jam & cream).
Hot sandwich ‘Pigs in blankets under a duvet’ (‘Pigs in blankets under a duvet’ served on a bed of red onion relish on Geordie Bakers’ bloomer served with a pot of mash & gravy).
