Freedom City event - road closures

Posted on 25 October 2017

Roads will be closed at various times between Friday 27 October and Wednesday 1 November 2017 as a major parade takes place on the Tyne Bridge.

‘Freedom of the Tyne’ is a once in a lifetime, large scale mass participation outdoor event to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr receiving an honorary degree from Newcastle University.

The main roads affected in Newcastle include the Tyne Bridge – A167 (Central Motorway East) between New Bridge Street and Gateshead Council boundary – which will be closed on Sunday 29 October 2017 between 1pm and 8.30pm, so please allow extra time if travelling to Sage Gateshead on this day.
