Motorists urged to avoid Askew Road

Posted on 20 March 2017

Gateshead Council is warning motorists to avoid Askew Road between the Redheugh and Tyne Bridges as Northern Gas Networks (NGN) begin emergency gas main replacement works.

Work is due to begin on Monday 20 March at the junction of Askew Road and the approach to the High Level Bridge. This work is expected to last eight weeks and will involve the closure of the adjacent Hill Street, which is heavily used by buses and taxis.

Visitors to Sage Gateshead who use Askew Road are being urged to leave extra time for travelling or to find an alternative route if possible.
