Sandy Duff on BBC Radio Newcastle

Posted on 7 August 2012

Did you hear Sandy Duff on BBC Radio Newcastle this morning (Tuesday 7th August) talking about the urban art that forms part of our CoMusica programme here at Sage Gateshead? If not, you can listen again on BBC iPlayer (Alfie and Charlie at Breakfast).

CoMusica works with young people using creative activities, such as urban art or hip hop that ignite their interest.

The talent of some of these young people is incredible and using the legal art wall provided behind Sage Gateshead and the space in the Arches, the young people have produced some very imaginative pieces of art in spaces where they are allowed to do so.

The Independent recognised the success of this project within their review of our full Learning & Participation programme.

CoMusica uses a mix of art forms including DJing, music production, rap and lyric writing, aerosol art and video production which also improves the skills of literacy, numeracy and ICT where learning is put in terms and situations familiar to the learner. Find out more.
