New partnership between Royal Northern Sinfonia and Nevill Holt Opera celebrated with special performances at Sage Gateshead
An exciting new partnership between Royal Northern Sinfonia and Nevill Holt Opera is being launched this year – and tickets are already on sale for their Sage Gateshead performances.
Taking place on 4 and 6 July, NHO’s new production of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro will tour to the Gateshead venue, performed by RNS as part of the Great Exhibition of the North celebrations.
The performances will take place just weeks after the opening of Nevill Holt Opera’s brand new opera house in Leicestershire, and will be the latest in a series of successful summer opera performances held at Sage Gateshead, following in the footsteps of the hugely successful Ring Cycle in 2016 and Turandot in 2017.
Thorben Dittes, Director of Royal Northern Sinfonia and Classical Programme at Sage Gateshead said: “We are delighted to commence our new partnership with NHO in this landmark year for them, showcasing a composer whose work lies at the heart of our repertoire. We look forward to bringing NHO’s sparkling production to Sage Gateshead, to share with our audiences in the North East.”
Figaro will feature NHO’s trademark selection of bright young stars, underlining their commitment to nurturing the best emerging operatic talent. Young Leicester-born baritone James Newby will make his debut in the role of Count, while Lawson Anderson (2017 winner of Glyndebourne’s award for most talented young singer) will star as Figaro. Sky Ingram sings Countess and Aoife Miskelly the role of Susana while Joan Rodgers makes her debut as Marcellina.
Tickets are now on sale and can be booked online at classicalseason.com or by visiting Sage Gateshead’s Ticket Office either in person or by calling 0191 443 4661.
