Classic FM Broadcasts Live from Sage Gateshead

Posted on 13 September 2012

On Monday 17th September, Classic FM – the UK’s favourite classical music radio station – takes a day out in your landmark home of music and musical discovery. Sage Gateshead will host the Classic FM team for the entire day, with the station broadcasting from Sage Two bar, overlooking the River Tyne, from 6am onwards.

As part of its ongoing 20th birthday celebrations, Classic FM will be taking the whole show on the road, right the way up to Gateshead.

From More Music Breakfast with Tim Lihoreau to broadcasting John Wilson’s concert with Northern Sinfonia, Orchestra of Sage Gateshead – Classic FM’s Orchestra in the North East – from the previous evening (Sunday 16th September), the full day’s broadcast will come live from right here in the North East.

The schedule includes:
6am-9am Classic FM More Music Breakfast with Tim Lihoreau
9am-1pm Nick Bailey
1pm-5pm Jamie Crick
5pm-8pm Classic FM Drive with John Brunning
8pm-10pm The Full Works Concert with Jane Jones – Live with the Northern Sinfonia
As the culmination of the day’s special broadcasts from Gateshead, Jane Jones presents a concert of Light Music, recorded the previous evening at The Sage and conducted by John Wilson.

Fans of the station are invited to come along to hear the live broadcasts and maybe get a chance to say ‘hello’ to their favourite Classic FM presenter. They can also get a lovely lunch or coffee and cake from Sage Gateshead’s cafe or Brasserie whilst there and even start their Christmas shopping in the Shop.

With an audience of nearly 5.5 million listeners, this special outside broadcast is guaranteed to showcase the North East to people from Land’s End to John O’Groats – and, with a focus on Northern Sinfonia, famous soloists from the North East and music inspired by our local area, it promises to be a day to remember.
