Cole Porter classics live in concert with Royal Northern Sinfonia
Fans of a certain American composer and songwriter will certainly ‘get a kick’ out of the latest event in Royal Northern Sinfonia’s popular Nights Out series.
Taking place on Sunday 5 February at 3pm, The Cole Porter Songbook gives audience members the chance to hear those unforgettable melodies and Broadway hits live in concert in Sage Gateshead’s iconic Sage One.
For the matinee performance, Royal Northern Sinfonia will be joined on stage by four fantastic singers to perform songs from classic musicals Kiss me Kate, High Society and Anything Goes alongside timeless hits I Get a Kick Out of You, Night and Day and I’ve Got You Under My Skin.
Taking to the mic is Anna O’Byrne, an established and international performer whose career spans opera, theatre, concert and film; West End star Caroline Sheen, whose credits include Sandy in Grease and Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; David Thaxton, a member of Only Men Aloud who won the BBC show Last Choir Standing; and Jon Boydon, who has recently finished playing Tommy Devito in Jersey Boys after six years in the role.
Prior to the matinee performance, young musicians from Sage Gateshead’s Popular and Contemporary Programme will be entertaining concert-goers on the concourse – they’ll be playing from 2pm, so make sure you get down early!
The Cole Porter Songbook is one of several RNS Nights Out concerts taking place at Sage Gateshead during the 2016/17 Classical Season, which are designed to give audiences the chance to hear popular hits and classic songs with a full orchestra experience.
Tickets for The Cole Porter Songbook range from £16.13 to £39.78.
