Sage Gateshead audiences in for a fright with Royal Northern Sinfonia Halloween special
The spookiest night of the year is just around the corner – and Royal Northern Sinfonia is set to give Sage Gateshead audiences a ‘fright’ to remember with their spine-tingling Halloween special.
Taking place on Saturday 28 October at 7.30pm in Sage One, RNS Halloween Spooktacular is the perfect antidote to Halloween tricks and all things gore, with Royal Northern Sinfonia presenting an evening of the creepiest classical music with a theatrical twist, from Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre and Mussorgsky’s Night on the Bare Mountain to music from Harry Potter and Hitchcock’s Psycho.
Setting the scene for the haunting works is presenter Alasdair Malloy, who has recorded and performed with musicians such as Bjork, Scott Walker, Mike Oldfield and Jarvis Cocker and who is the only player in the UK of the extraordinary Glass Harmonica. Alasdair will be treating audiences to a performance of the instrument on the night – but let’s hope he watches out for that trap door…
Don’t forget to pay a visit to the evil-yet-delicious spirits at Sage Gateshead’s pop-up cocktail bar, with Creepy Cosmos, Ghouls’ Goblets, Bloody Bellinis and Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martinis all lurking about for one night only.
Tickets range from £16.50 – £39.50. Book online now or call Ticket Office on 0191 443 4661.
Next up in RNS’ popular Nights Out series is Star Wars Spectacular on Thursday 23 November and Friday 24 November, with Royal Northern Sinfonia performing music from John Williams’ iconic soundtrack. The force is strong with this one – so make sure you secure your seats soon to avoid disappointment (and envy) come November!
