The three Folkworks Summer Schools bring together folk music enthusiasts in unique and exciting environments to play, sing and dance. Folkworks Summer Schools have been one of the longest-running and most popular Folk music summer schools in the UK since they were established in 1989.

In 2017, world renowned traditional musicians and participants aged 8-100 will be gathering in Durham to share and learn traditional music, song and dance from across the UK and beyond. Our schools are fun and sociable with lots of sessions, sing-a-rounds, and dances. We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive and friendly environment whilst offering world-class tuition.

This year we will celebrate the culmination of a year-long HLF-funded project, Pass it On, the Tradition in Your Hands; participants can enjoy new opportunities to discover the stories and heritage behind the music and dance they will be learning.
